Beautiful design means nothing if your words don't convince people to act. A website that looks great but reads poorly converts worse than a poorly designed site with compelling copy. Here's how to write copy that turns visitors into customers.

The Headline Formula That Works

Your headline has 3-5 seconds to grab attention. Use this structure:

[Benefit] for [Customer] without [Pain]

Example: "Professional websites for small business without the tech headaches."

Speak to Your Customer's Pain, Not Your Features

Bad: "We offer custom web design, development, and SEO services."
Good: "Tired of losing customers to competitors with better websites? We build sites that rank and convert."

Customer cares about results (more customers, more sales), not your process.

Social Proof Converts

  • Testimonials (with client name and photo): +34% conversion boost
  • Number of clients served: "Trusted by 200+ businesses"
  • Logos of recognizable clients (if permission allows)
  • Specific results: "Increased traffic by 250%", "200+ reviews at 4.8 stars"

The CTA (Call-to-Action) Matters

Bad: "Submit" or "Click here"
Good: "Book your free consultation" or "See how we can help"

Specific, benefit-driven CTAs convert 3-5x better than generic ones.

Structure Your Copy for Scanning

  • Short headlines (under 8 words)
  • Bullet points instead of dense paragraphs
  • One idea per paragraph
  • Bolded key phrases readers should remember

Address Objections Upfront

If your price is above industry average, say "Our sites cost more because...". If you're a new company, lead with your founder's experience. Acknowledge concerns before they kill a sale.
