The client
DQ Construction is an Abbotsford based construction company delivering commercial and residential projects across British Columbia. Their work spans commercial build-outs and tenant improvements, retail and restaurant construction, daycare facilities, and custom homes, with projects reaching from the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland out to Vancouver Island, the Okanagan and the BC interior.
They had the portfolio and the reputation. What they did not have was a website that reflected either.
The challenge
Construction is a trust business, and trust is earned with evidence. DQ Construction needed a site that could do three things at once:
- Prove the range of the work. A builder who does Dairy Queen fit-outs, daycares and custom homes needs to show that breadth without looking unfocused
- Cover an enormous service area. Twelve cities and six regions across BC, each one a search someone might make
- Work from a truck. Trades traffic is overwhelmingly mobile, often on poor signal at a job site
What we built
A five page, hand coded website: Home, About, Services, Listings and Contact. No template, no page builder, no monthly platform fee.
- Real project photography. The gallery is built entirely from their own completed builds, including Blenz Coffee, Dairy Queen, a retail clothing fit-out, two daycare facilities, a pizza restaurant, a motel and a custom home. Every image is genuine work, organised so a prospect can find a project like their own
- A services architecture that matches how they sell. Commercial construction, residential construction, tenant improvements, office build-outs, retail, restaurant and daycare construction, and design-build, each explained in plain language
- Full service area coverage. Structured data marking all twelve cities and six BC regions they serve, from Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Langley and Mission through Surrey, Vancouver, Burnaby and Richmond, out to Kelowna, Kamloops, Nanaimo and Victoria
- Local business schema telling Google exactly what DQ Construction does, where it is based and every region it covers
- Mobile first, fast. Tap to call on every page, and a build light enough to load quickly on a phone with two bars
The approach
The instinct with a construction site is to lead with the company. We led with the work instead. The homepage puts finished projects in front of the visitor immediately, because in this industry the photographs do the selling and the copy just gets out of the way.
The second decision was to treat the service area as a first class part of the site rather than a line in the footer. A builder covering twelve cities is competing in twelve local markets, and the site is structured so Google understands that.
The result
DQ Construction now has a website that matches the quality of what they put up. It shows their real projects at a size where the finish is visible, it explains a broad service list without confusing anyone, it is set up to be found across every region they serve, and it loads fast on the device their clients actually use.
The site is live at dreamqualityconstruction.com.
